Happy Birthday Katy!

Happy Birthday baby girl. It is so hard to believe you turn six today. We are so amazed at the changes that have happened since you arrived as a very scared three year old. We are so proud and so pleased to have you here.

In your honor, Mom has decided to share one of her favorite poems from her childhood. In fact she thought this was intended for her when she was six.

"The End" from Now We are Six by A.A. Milne

When I was One,
I had just begun.

When I was Two,
I was nearly new.

When I was Three,
I was hardly me.

When I was Four,
I was not much more.

When I was Five,
I was just alive.

But now I am Six, I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.

You have truly grown so much since you were three. Now you are six you are indeed clever. I don't think you have to worry it will end if you decide to admit to turning seven next year.

Welcome to Monday Mischief – The pet blog hop that wraps up the weekend! This Blog Hop is brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, and My Brown Newfies.

Happy 10th Birthday Bailey

Yes, Mama is waxing poetic today. She just can't believe her little puppy is 10. She still thinks no time has passed since she drove all the way to CT to pick me up from my foster Mom when I was only four months old. Lots has happened since that day. Mama even brought home a girl Sheltie to live with us. While I am pleased with the extra bakery cookies, the bully sticks, and the new toys, I am not sure why Mama is so mushy over the big 1-0.

Mama even admitted on another blog that she's been lying about my age. Can you believe she's trying to make me younger than I am? Actually, I think she forgets. She wants me to stay young and she kept telling people I was 6 when I was 8. Then Dad would correct her. It's odd for a woman who admits to how old she is once she counts up from the year she is born. She doesn't lie about her age either, but every so often it does seem to surprise her when she adds up the numbers.

Any of you find your Mom gets mushier about your aging then she does her own?

Anyways I am looking forward to a great day of playing with my snow mounds, having my birthday treats, and getting in some snow cookies before the spring snow is gone.

Happy Spring ahead everyone.

Sugar the Golden Retriever's 10th Birthday

It's Sugar's Birthday and he has asked us to help celebrate his decade long life. Since we are such huge fans of birthdays of course, we could not resist. We were asked to post his birthday badge on our blog. Please stop by Sugar's blog and add your birthday greetings.

Next, we decided to put out the crochet birthday candle on our table to honor the event.

He wanted a smiling picture, but he is going to have to settle for a happy Sheltie picture.

Happy Birthday Sugar!!! We hope you have a wonderful day.

Party Games

Bailey did not mention there would be party games. Dad and Mom were excited about this present. Bailey said he saw the box, but was not that interested because he could not tell what was in it. It did not smell like anything but plastic and cardboard so he did not think it was likely to be very interesting. He was so wrong.

Mom and Dad bought me the Nina Ottosson Dog Brick Interactive Dog Toy and they taught Bailey and I how to play with it at my birthday party. Mom said she was not sure how we would react to the toy. We had looked at it in the store and been casually interested. Once Mom added the treats Bailey and I were having a hard time waiting for our turn to try to find the treats hidden under the sliding panels.

I love that I can use my nose and my paws to find the treats. Bailey is quick at it and wanted to "help" me when it was my turn. Mom held him so I could have a chance to do it all by myself. Mom has promised we can play again soon.

Birthday Suggestions

I am going to be three on Thursday. I have never celebrated birthdays before. I never even knew how old I was until Mom and Dad started talking about age and birthdays. I learned about birthday presents when I saw the stack Bailey got and got to share his bones and play with his new toys. Mom and Dad then realized they needed to plan for my birthday, too. Bailey said this year was pretty low key as birthday's go.

So, what suggestions do you guys have for my birthday. Bailey says Mom and Dad have some cool presents tucked away. He thinks I should ask for a trip to a local park to go walking this weekend since I am not crazy about lots of visitors and crowds.

My dream would be a visit next door, but that is not happening. I am not sure I will ever have my dream play date, although we have met on-leash and we do sniff noses under the fence.

Any ideas?

Happy Birthday

Bailey turns eight today. It does not seem possible that our first is eight. Now I sound like my friends with children. However, it does seem like yesterday we were driving back from Connecticut with a carsick puppy and beginning our lives with this amazing dog. It does not seem possible that he could possibly be eight. The calendar keeps us honest, though.

Last weekend was cold, wet and rainy, so we decided we would take the dogs out birthday shopping this weekend. I want to see if we can find some of the puzzle toys that will keep the two of them entertained. Of course, Bailey will get some bones as well. We all know that this will start a game of grab and go with Katy. There are no individual purchases for these two. Both share what we buy, even when we buy duplicates. There is no concept of individual ownership.

I do like the pet stores that allow the dogs. We do visit Petco and some of the local dog stores allow the dogs to travel with their owners. Bailey and Katy do not match the human stereotypes. Bailey loves to shop. He could spend hours in the store pursuing toys and treats. Katy wants to get what she needs and be gone. If she could use the Internet, she would do all her shopping online. She sees no benefit to the social aspects of shopping.

Happy Birthday Bailey!! May you spend many more happy years with us.
